August 12, 2009
Monster India, the leading online career and recruitment resource, and ITC e-Choupal, the world's largest rural digital infrastructure setup by ITC, have formed an alliance to launch Rozgarduniya.com. This Web site will enable job seekers in rural India, to access and apply for jobs through the ITC e-Choupals.
Powered by Monster's innovative technology, Rozgarduniya.com was designed to address the challenge companies face in finding qualified seekers in the local markets. This alliance will provide employers in corporate India a unique platform to access rural talent, thus removing the traditional barriers they face in this process.
"We believe Rozgarduniya.com will act as a catalyst and play an instrumental role in the government's vision of inclusive growth in India. It is our hope to expand this unique offering to over nine states and about 40,000 villages through the ITC e-Choupals in the future,' said Sanjay Modi, managing director, Monster.com (India, Middle East and Southeast Asia). "Rozgarduniya.com was designed after Monster India conducted intensive research with the youth in rural India to understand their profiles and rural internet usage behavior.
"Rural India has a huge untapped talent pool and Rozgarduniya.com will provide a platform to bridge the demand and supply gap. Job opportunities available to the rural population through this initiative will help improve employment in addition to facilitating corporate expansion plans in the rural market," added Sanjay.
"ITC is delighted to share the e-Choupal network's large rural reach with Monster India to bring in new opportunities for the people in rural India. This initiative will enable grass-root talent to contribute to building the markets of the future and is aligned with ITC's vision to support inclusive economic growth," said S. Sivakumar, Division Chief Executive, ITC's Agri Business Division.
Sivakumar also suggested that this digital connect would add to the empowerment of the rural youth. "For almost a decade now, ITC's e-Choupal has leveraged information technology and the Internet to connect farmers to the economic mainstream, significantly raising rural incomes and providing new opportunities. This initiative will open yet another door of opportunity for rural communities in the e-Choupal fraternity. Going forward ITC e-Choupal will partner with leading service providers to bring employability skill building services to rural India to complement Rozgarduniya.com."
Rozgarduniya.com is a bilingual job portal launched initially in English and Hindi. Subsequently, the portal will available in other popular regional Indian languages.
The Sanchalak is a farmer trained to manage the ITC e-Choupal kiosk. Sanchalaks are currently being trained to help the youth submit resumes online, apply for jobs, explore other career opportunities and will act as the key facilitators for job seekers in the village.
This initiative adds to Monster India's array of innovative alliances to reach job-seekers in the remote corners of India. Recently, Monster India and Dishtv collaborated to offer an interactive job search service "MonsterJobs Active", which will allow seekers to search for jobs across the country in various industry verticals, through the television medium and will enable employers to reach out to a larger talent pool.
